Removal & Installation (4.0L - Bank 1)

  1. Bank 1 is the cylinder head that is closest to rear of engine compartment. Raise and support vehicle. Remove the 2 nuts securing the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) shut off valve outlet pipe to the exhaust manifold. Lower the vehicle. Disconnect the bank 1 intermediate pipe/hose from the bank 1 AIR shut off valve. See Figure.
  2. Remove the vacuum lines from the AIR shut off valve. Remove the 3 nuts securing the AIR shut off valve to the engine. Remove the AIR shut off valve from the bank 1 AIR outlet pipe. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten the AIR shut off valve nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
