Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE  in Body Front End.
  4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.

  5. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).
  6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (10) from the extension case.

  7. Remove the O-ring seal (11) from the vehicle speed sensor (10).

    Important  : Handle the vehicle speed sensor (10) carefully.

  8. Inspect the vehicle speed sensor and O-ring seal for the following:
    • Damaged connector
    • Cracked housing
    • Signs of rotor damage
    • Cuts or nicks on the O-ring seal (11)
