Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Route the wiring harness in the liftgate.
  2. Install the wiring harness retainers into the liftgate.
  3. Connect the rear window defogger electrical connectors (3).
  4. Connect the rear wiper motor electrical connector (7).

  5. Connect liftgate wiring harness connectors (2) to the rear body wiring harness (3).
  6. Install the rear corner upper garnish moldings. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR CORNER UPPER  in Interior Trim.
  7. Install the rear washer hose. Refer to WASHER NOZZLE REPLACEMENT - REAR  in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  8. Connect the liftgate latch electrical connectors.
  9. Install the license plate lamps. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
  10. Install the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
  11. Install the rear speakers to the liftgate. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR  in Entertainment.
  12. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE   . 
  13. Close the liftgate.
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE  in Battery.
