Removal Procedure

CAUTION:
Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
- Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR .
- Remove the front door opening weather-strips. Refer to DOOR SYSTEM, MIRROR SYSTEM & WINDOW SYSTEM in Doors.
- Remove the sunshades. Refer to SUNSHADE REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - OVERHEAD (SINGLE) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - OVERHEAD (DUAL) or CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - OVERHEAD (CF5) .
- Remove the dome lamp. Refer to DOME LAMP REPLACEMENT (WITHOUT U42) or DOME LAMP REPLACEMENT (WITH U2) or LIGHTING SYSTEMS in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the rear headliner trim finishing molding. Refer to HEADLINING TRIM FINISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - UPPER PILLAR .
- Remove the body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - BODY SIDE REAR UPPER .
- Remove the rear corner upper garnish molding Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR CORNER UPPER .
- Remove the reading lamps. Refer to LIGHTING SYSTEMS in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the rear fan/temperature controls. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT - AUXILIARY in HVAC System. - Manual.
- Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to LIGHTING SYSTEMS in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the liftgate weather-strips. Refer to BODY REAR END in Body Rear End.
- Remove the roof auxiliary air outlets, if equipped Refer to AIR OUTLET DUCTS REPLACEMENT - AUXILIARY in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
- Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
- Push the headliner forward in order to release the locking tab at the front overhead console.
- Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
