Removal Procedure

  1. Open and support the hood.
    NOTE: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
  2. Place the protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  4. Remove the front tires and wheels. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  in Tires and Wheels.

  5. Remove the cruise control module, if equipped, from the left fender. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT  in Cruise control.
  6. Remove the front turn signal/side marker lamp. Refer to HAZARD AND TURN SIGNAL FLASHER REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
  7. Remove the fender splashshield. Refer toSPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - WHEELHOUSE   .
  8. Remove the fender to front bumper fascia bolts. Refer to FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (PONTIAC)  or FASCIA REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUMPER (CHEVROLET)  in Bumpers.
  9. Remove the fender to fascia bolt at the lower door hinge pillar.
  10. Remove the fender bolts from the rear edge of the fender at the door hinge pillar.
  11. Remove the fender bolts from the upper edge of the fender.
  12. Remove the fender from the vehicle.
