Diagnostic Procedures

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Start engine. Using scan tool, monitor status of DTC P2008. If DTC P2008 has run and failed LAST TEST, go to next step. If DTC P2008 has not run and failed LAST TEST, problem intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  2. Turn ignition on, engine off. Check INJ/MAN fuse (10-amp). Replace and retest if open. Disconnect IMRC solenoid. Connect Noid Light (SA9194E) between IMRC connector terminals. Using scan tool, command INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL (IMRC) SOLENOID on and off. If noid light follows command, go to next step. If noid light does not follow command, go to step  4 .
  3. Remove noid light. Using DVOM, measure voltage on IMRC connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire). If 2.6-4.6 volts are present, check IMRC connector. If connector is okay, replace IMRC solenoid. If 2.6-4.6 volts are not present, replace ECM.
  4. Connect test light between IMRC connector terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground. If test light is on, check Orange wire for open between IMRC and ECM (2.6-4.6 volts from ECM on Orange wire with ignition on, engine off is normal). If wire is okay, replace ECM. If test light is off, repair open in White wire between underhood fuse block and ECM.
