Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Diagnose any BCM passlock DTCs or U-type communication DTCs first.

If the ECM does not receive a password from the BCM during engine crank, the engine will start then stall. If the ECM continues to receive no password during the drive cycle and then the engine is turned off, the engine will start without the aid of passlock. The ECM will default to fail enable mode. Perform the security system (passlock) relearn procedure. See PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS  under PROGRAMMING.
