Diagnostic Aids

This DTC indicates that the ECM received an emission related TCM DTC over the CAN link. The ECM in turn commanded the MIL on, set a P0700 and set a freeze frame failure record containing the original transmission DTC number. Diagnose the TCM related DTCs first. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Use the failure record in the TCM as well as the freeze frame/failure record in the ECM to aid in diagnosis of the TCM DTC.
