The engine will still run if White/Black wire is open with engine speed more than 2500 RPM. If less than 2500 RPM, the engine will stall. The engine will not run if Purple/White wire is open.

If the engine is running at idle, this DTC is not active.

If the engine does not start, use scan tool to monitor ENGINE SPEED while cranking over engine. Wiggling wires while checking for ENGINE SPEED may locate the area where an open anywhere in the wiring or short to voltage on Purple/White wire may exist.

A short to ground on either Purple/White wire or White/Black wire will not affect the CKP sensor signal to the ECM and will not set any CKP sensor circuit DTCs.

If this DTC is intermittent, allow engine to reach normal operating temperature while checking for an engine stall condition. The CKP sensor may have an intermittent open or high resistance at higher temperatures.

Purple/White wire and White/Black wire should each have 2.5 volts from the ECM.

CKP sensor resistance: 800-1200 ohms.
