Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

To locate an intermittent problem, use the scan tool to monitor knock sensor 2 voltage while revving the engine up and down the RPM band. The sensor voltage should increase from around 0.25 volt to around 2.0 volts as engine speed is raised from idle to fuel cutoff in Park.

Wiggling wires under different engine speeds, while using scan tool to watch for a drop in knock sensor 2 voltage, may locate the area where an open or short to ground in the wiring may exist.

DTC P0332 may set if knock sensor is loose or installed backwards. The larger metal contact area of the sensor should be contacting the engine block.
