Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
  2. Remove the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
  3. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT  .
  4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT  .
  5. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) accessory trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY  .
  6. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P)  .
  7. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in Airbag.
  8. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM in Airbag.
  9. Remove the underhood electrical center. Refer to UNDERHOOD ELECTRICAL CENTER OR JUNCTION BLOCK REPLACEMENT in Wiring Systems.
  10. Remove the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT  .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to HOOD LATCH RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT in Body Front End.
  13. Remove the front floor console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR  .
  14. Remove the front floor console bracket. Refer to BRACKET REPLACEMENT - CONSOLE FLOOR  .
  15. Remove the audio system. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT in Entertainment.
  16. Remove the heater A/C controls. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  17. Remove the switch bank. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
  18. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR in Interior Trim.
  19. Remove the I/P upper trim. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER  .
  20. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to HEADLAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT in Lighting Systems.
  21. Remove the data link connector. Refer to DATA LINK CONNECTOR REPLACEMENT in Data Link Communication.
  22. Remove the bolts/screws (1) that secure the instrument panel (3) to the body.
  23. Lift up from the bottom of the I/P in order to release the top retainers.
  24. Remove the I/P wiring harness. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) HARNESS REPLACEMENT  .
  25. Remove the instrument panel (3).
