Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  4. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  5. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Install the thermostat bypass pipe. Refer to THERMOSTAT BYPASS PIPES REPLACEMENT in Engine Cooling.
  8. Connect the inlet radiator hose to the engine. Refer to RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLET in Engine Cooling.
  9. Install the right engine mount strut bracket. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT BRACKET REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
  10. Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
