Removal Procedure

Replace the entire converter assembly in order to properly service the 3-way catalytic converter.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor connector Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts from the exhaust manifold pipe studs.

  4. Remove the catalytic converter nuts from the exhaust pipe.
  5. Remove the 3-way catalytic converter.
