Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the water pump gasket.
  2. Install the water pump.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the water pump Bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten Bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Install the water pump pulley. Loosely install the mounting Bolts.
  5. Install the drive Belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT  in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
  6. Install the water pump pulley Bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the Bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the drive Belt guard.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM   . 
  9. Inspect the cooling system for leaks.
