Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the thermostat.

  2. Install the thermostat housing and gasket.
  3. Install RTV sealer, GM P/N 1052366 or the equivalent, to the thermostat housing Bolt threads.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the thermostat housing Bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten Bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the radiator hose to the thermostat housing. Refer to RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLET   .

  6. Install the crossover exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT  in Engine Exhaust.
  7. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM   . 
  9. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
