Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the valve rocker arm cover gasket into the valve rocker arm cover.
  2. Apply sealer GM P/N 12346286 or the equivalent to the notches where the cylinder head and intake manifold meet.
  3. Install valve rocker arm cover.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the vacuum hose to the grommet in the engine right side valve rocker arm cover.

  6. Install the ignition coil bracket with coils.
  7. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.

  8. Connect the vacuum hoses from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
  9. Connect the engine right side spark plug wires. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  10. Install the generator bracket. Refer to GENERATOR  in Generators and Regulators.
  11. Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR  in Generators and Regulators.
  12. Install the drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT   .
