Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - LEFT   or ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - RIGHT   . 
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  4. Remove the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the engine right side exhaust manifold. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT  in Engine Exhaust.

  5. Remove the right front wheel and tire. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  . 
  6. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE  in Body Front End.
  7. Remove the engine mount lower nuts.
    NOTE: In order to avoid oil pan damage and possible engine failure, insert a block of woof that spans the width of the oil pan bottom between the oil pan and the jack support.
  8. Use a utility stand and a block of wood in order to raise the engine.
  9. Remove the engine mount bracket-to-oil pan bolts.
  10. Remove the engine mount and the engine mount bracket.

  11. Remove the engine mount upper nuts.
  12. Remove the engine mount from the engine mount bracket. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT BRACKET REPLACEMENT   .
