Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts. Refer to ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - LEFT   or ENGINE MOUNT STRUT REPLACEMENT - RIGHT   . 
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.
  4. Remove the catalytic converter pipe from the engine right side exhaust manifold. Refer to CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT  in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Remove the right front wheel and tire. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  in Tires and Wheels.
  6. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE  in Body Front End.
  7. Remove the engine mount bracket-to-oil pan bolts.
    NOTE: In order to avoid oil pan damage and possible engine failure, insert a block of wood that spans the width of the oil pan bottom between the oil pan and the jack support.
  8. Insert a block of wood between the utility stand and the oil pan.
  9. Use the utility stand in order to raise the oil pan.
  10. Remove the engine mount upper nuts.
  11. Remove the engine mount bracket from the engine mount.
