Installation Procedure

  1. Install the cylinder head gasket.

  2. Install the cylinder head.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the cylinder head bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts in sequence to 60 N.m (44 lb ft). Turn the bolts an additional 95 degrees using the J 36660-A. 

  4. Install the engine right side spark plugs. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  5. Install the engine right side exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - RIGHT  in Engine Exhaust.
  6. Install the engine right side spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION & OVERHAUL  in Removal and Installation in Engine Performance.
  7. Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT  in Engine Exhaust.
  8. Install the pushrods and valve rocker arms. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM AND PUSH ROD REPLACEMENT   . 
  9. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - LOWER   . 
  10. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - UPPER   . 
  11. Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT   . 
  12. Fill the cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM  in Engine Cooling.
