Diagnostic Procedure

- With ignition on, engine running. Drive for a short distance. Using scan tool, monitor status of DTC P0966. Did last test fail? If so, go to next step. If not, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Disconnect transaxle 20-way harness connector. Connect test light between transaxle 20-way harness connector terminal No. 7 and battery voltage. Is test light on? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step 4
- Inspect TCC PC solenoid high circuit (418) for a short to ground. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace TCM. See TRANSAXLE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition on. Connect test light between transaxle 20-way harness connector terminal No. 7 and ground. Is test light on? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step 6 .
- Inspect TCC PC solenoid high circuit (418) for a short to voltage. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace TCM. See TRANSAXLE CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Inspect TCC PC solenoid high (418) and low (5500) circuits for a shorted together condition. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace TCC PC solenoid. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
