Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With ignition on, engine running. Idle for one minute. Using scan tool, monitor status of DTC P0962. Did last test fail? If so, go to next step. If not, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect transaxle 20-way harness connector. Connect a test light between battery voltage and transaxle 20-way harness connector terminal No. 15. Is test light on? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  4 .
  3. Inspect line PC solenoid high circuit (1530) for a short to ground. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace TCM. See TRANSAXLE CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between transaxle 20-way harness connector terminal No. 51 and ground. Is the test light on? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  6 .
  5. Inspect line PC solenoid high circuit (1530) for a short to voltage. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace TCM. See TRANSAXLE CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Inspect line PC solenoid high (1530) and low (5503) circuits for a shorted together condition. Repair as necessary. If okay, replace control solenoid valve assembly. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
