Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR DEPLOYED INFLATOR MODULES ARE HOT CAUTION in Caution and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  in Airbag.
  2. Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT   . 
  3. Remove the wire harness assembly (4) from the wire harness strap (5).
  4. Remove the wire harness straps (3) from the wire harness assembly (4).
  5. Remove the wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).

  6. Slide the turn signal switch assembly connectors (2) out from the bulk head connector (1).

  7. Pull the PASSKEY® III (2) off of the ignition lock cylinder case (1).

  8. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case (2).
  9. Remove the 2 tapping screws from the ignition switch assembly (3).
