Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the cooler pipe.
  2. Install the cooler pipe to the retainers on the frame.
  3. Install the cooler pipe retainer.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the cooler pipe retainer bolt/screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the cooler pipe retainer bolt/screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the cooler pipe to the steering gear.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the power steering gear cooler pipe fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering gear hose clip.

  7. Install the return hose to the cooler pipe.
  8. Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame rear.
  9. Install the NEW frame rear bolts.
  10. Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT REPLACEMENT  in Steering Wheel and Column.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir.
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM   .
