Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Montana, 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2003 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY in Removal & Installation.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control module electrical connector.
  3. Remove cruise control module from the mounting bracket and reposition aside.
  4. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket bolts.

  5. Remove the cruise control module mounting bracket.
  6. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING   . 
  7. Remove the evaporator inlet tube clamp nut.

  8. Remove the wiper module cover. Refer to WIPER MODULE COVER REPLACEMENT  in Wipers/Washer System.
  9. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector form the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
  11. Remove the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor from the evaporator inlet tube.
  12. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  13. Remove the evaporator outlet tube nut at the TXV.

  14. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube and evaporator inlet tube from the TXV.
  15. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator outlet tube.

    Important:  Cap or tape the open A/C refrigerant tube and A/C refrigerant components to prevent system contamination.

  16. Cap or tape the TXV.
  17. Remove the evaporator inlet tube to condenser fitting bolt.
  18. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube from the condenser.
  19. Cap or tape the condenser.
  20. Disconnect the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube from the evaporator inlet tube.
  21. Cap or tape the auxiliary evaporator inlet tube.
  22. Remove the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.

  23. Disconnect the electrical connector on the evaporator outlet tube bracket.

    Important:  Gently lift up on the evaporator outlet tube bracket to allow enough clearance to slide the evaporator inlet tube underneath.

  24. Remove the evaporator inlet tube.
  25. Remove the discard the sealing washers and O-ring.
