Installation Procedure

- Install the compressor.
- Connect the upper transmission oil cooler hose to the radiator. Refer to TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE QUICK CONNECT FITTING in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
- Install the lower radiator hose. Refer to RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - OUTLET in Engine Cooling.
- Install the battery tray. Refer to BATTERY TRAY REPLACEMENT in Battery.
- Raise the vehicle.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the compressor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Remove cap or tape from the suction hose.
- Install a new sealing washer to the suction hose.
Refer to SEALING WASHER REPLACEMENT .
- Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
- Install the suction hose to compressor nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the compressor.
- Connect the engine harness electrical connector.
- Install the air baffle.
- Install the air baffle bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Release the drive belt tensioner.
Install the drive belt on to the compressor pulley.
- Remove cap or tape from the discharge hose.
- Install a new sealing washer to the discharge hose. Refer to SEALING WASHER REPLACEMENT .
- Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
- Install the discharge hose to compressor nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
