Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - LOWER  .
  2. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM AND PUSH ROD REPLACEMENT  .
  3. Remove the intake manifold oil splash shield

  4. Remove the lifter guide bolts.
  5. Remove the valve lifter guides.
  6. Remove the valve lifters.
  7. Clean all gasket surfaces with degreaser.
  8. Clean the valve train parts.
  9. Inspect the valve lifters and the cam lobes for wear. Refer to VALVE LIFTERS CLEANING AND INSPECTION  .
