Removal Procedure

If the release cable will not operate the latch, access the hood latch by raising the vehicle and removing the front wheelhouse rear filler panel. Then trip the latch with a long screw driver.

  1. Remove the right and the left hood latches. Refer to HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT - LEFT  and to HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
  2. Disconnect the release cable from the latches.

  3. Remove the release cable from the retainers (1) on the plenum panel.
  4. Reposition the cables so that the cables slide smoothly through the opening in the dash panel.

  5. Remove the screws from the release cable handle.
  6. Remove the release cable grommet from the dash panel.
  7. Pull the release cables through the opening in the dash panel.
