Transmission Fluid Level Inspection

Raise and suitably support the vehicle; ensure that the vehicle is level. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE in General Information.
Clean any dirt from around the fill plug hole.
Remove the transmission fluid fill plug hole.

If equipped, disconnect the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor electrical connector.
Clean any dirt from around the TFT sensor.

If equipped, remove the TFT sensor from the transmission.
Inspect the transmission fluid level, ensure that the fluid level is even with the bottom of the fill plug hole.
Add DEXRON® - III transmission fluid, if necessary.

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
If equipped, install the TFT sensor to the transmission.
Tighten

Tighten the TFT sensor to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

If equipped, connect the TFT sensor electrical connector.

Install the transmission fluid fill plug hole.
Tighten

Tighten the transmission fluid fill plug hole to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
Lower the vehicle.
