Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

    IMPORTANT: Use gasket sealing compound GM P/N 01050026, or equivalent, to secure the new gasket to the heater pipes.
  1. Install a new O-ring seal and gasket to the heater pipe assembly.
  2. Install the heater pipe assembly.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: Use a universal or swivel-socket with an extension in order to install the heater pipe bolts.
  4. Install the heater inlet pipe bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the heater pipe bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the heater hoses to the heater pipes. Refer to Heater Hose Replacement - Inlet (LA1)  or Heater Hose Replacement - Inlet (LY7)  and Heater Hose Replacement - Outlet (LA1)  or Heater Hose Replacement - Outlet (LY7) .
  6. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).
  7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
  8. Install the coolant reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
