Removal Procedure

- Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the wiper module. Refer to Wiper Motor Module Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and reposition the hose.
- Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L.
- Using J 38185 , disconnect both of the heater hose clamps at the heater core.
- Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Cap off the heater core pipes.
- Remove the right instrument panel (I/P) insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the left I/P insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the center floor air outlet. Refer to Air Outlet Replacement - Center Floor .
- Remove the screws retaining the heater outlet duct.
- Remove the heater outlet duct.
- Remove the tie strap which secures the I/P harness to the heater core cover.
- Remove the screws retaining the heater core cover.
- Remove the heater core cover.
- Remove the heater core pipe retaining screw.
- Remove the heater core from the HVAC module.
IMPORTANT:
Cap off the heater core inlet and outlet pipes to prevent coolant spillage inside of the vehicle.
