Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).

  4. Remove the transfer case vent hose from the transmission fill tube.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  7. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  9. Position a utility stand beneath the rear center section of the frame in order to support the powertrain.
  10. Remove the frame rear bolts.
  11. IMPORTANT: Do not lower the powertrain more than 100 mm (4 in).
  12. Carefully lower the powertrain in order to provide access.

  14. Release the vent hose clamp and remove the vent hose from the transfer case.
  15. Remove the vent hose from the retainer.
  16. Remove the vent hose.
