Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Aztek and 2004 Buick Rendezvous. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the powertrain (engine, transmission and frame) from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.6L (LY7).
  2. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (LA1) or Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement (LY7) in Engine Exhaust.

  3. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to depress the reverse servo cover (40).
  4. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retaining ring (39).

  5. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to pull the O-ring seal (41) out through the slot in the case.
  6. Use side cutting pliers in order to cut the servo cover O-ring seal (41).
  7. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to depress the reverse servo cover (40), grasp one end of the cut seal (41) and pull the seal (41) out of the servo cover (40).

  8. Remove the reverse servo cover (40).
  9. Remove the servo assembly (42-48).
  10. Remove the servo spring (49).
