Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the coolant until the coolant level is below the water outlet. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  2. Remove the upper radiator hose from the water outlet. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (LA1)  or Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet (LY7) .
  3. IMPORTANT: Do not disconnect the power steering hoses or drain the power steering fluid.
  4. Remove and reposition the power steering pressure hose and the power steering reservoir from the water outlet. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LY7) in Power Steering System.
  5. Remove the water outlet bolts and the water outlet.
  6. Remove and discard the water outlet seals.
  7. Clean the water outlet sealing surfaces.
