Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant from the engine cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the oil filter. Refer to ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT  .

  5. Remove the oil cooler outlet hose from the oil cooler. Position the outlet hose aside.

  6. Remove the oil cooler connector.

  7. Remove the oil cooler inlet hose clamp and the oil cooler.
  8. Clean and inspect the engine block mating surface.
