Installation (Lower)

  1. Remove oil level sensor and retaining clip. Clean lower oil pan. Remove any sludge or other deposits. Clean lower oil pan mating surface. Inspect lower oil pan for dents or distortion.
  2. Inspect lower oil pan mating surface for damage. Replace lower oil pan if any damage is found. Install oil level sensor and retaining clip. Install oil level sensor bolt.
  3. Apply a 1/8" (2 mm) wide bead of Sealant (GM 97720043) to lower oil pan mating surface. Install lower oil pan. Install lower oil pan bolts and nuts.
  4. Connect oil level sensor and install clip. Install crossbar, oil pan skid plate, oil filter, and oil pan drain plug. Lower vehicle. Fill engine with oil.
