Starter Motor Installation

- If installing a NEW starter, transfer the cables from the old starter.
- Install the positive battery cable to the starter motor stud.CAUTION: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the starter motor stud nut.
Tighten
Tighten the starter motor stud nut to 9.5 N.m (84 in lbs).
- Install the solenoid wiring harness to the starter solenoid stud.
- Install the starter solenoid stud nut.
Tighten
Tighten the starter solenoid stud nut to 3.4 N.m (30 in lbs).
- Place the starter motor in position in the engine valley.
- Install the two starter motor retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the starter motor retaining bolts to 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).
- Install the knock sensor (1).
Tighten
Tighten the knock sensor (1) to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).
- Connect the knock sensor wire lead.
