Installation Procedure

- Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the vehicle.CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear to 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).
- Install the power steering pressure hose retainer (2) to the frame.
- Install the power steering gear heat shield.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the power steering pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump to 30 N.m (22 ft lbs).
- Install the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt (2) to the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the power steering pressure hose retaining bolt to 9 N.m (80 in lbs).
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System . in Power Steering.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
