Brake Warning Alarm Inoperative

  1. Did you review the SYMPTOMS - HYDRAULIC BRAKE? If so go to next step. If not go to SYMPTOMS - HYDRAULIC BRAKE  .
  2. Turn ON the ignition. Does the power brake booster fluid flow alarm sound continuously? If so condition is intermittent. Go to INTERMITTENT  . If not go to next step.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the power brake booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module. See Figure . Connect a fused jumper wire between the brake warning indicator supply voltage 2 circuit and a good ground. Turn ON the ignition. Does the power brake booster fluid flow alarm sound continuously? If so go to next step. If not go to step  13 .
  4. Connect a test lamp between battery voltage and the brake fluid level sensor signal circuit at the power brake booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module harness connector. See Figure . Does the test lamp illuminate? If so go to step  19 . If not go to next step.
  5. Turn OFF the ignition. Reconnect the power brake booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module. See Figure . Disconnect the power brake booster fluid pressure alarm switch. Connect a jumper wire between the brake fluid level sensor signal circuit and a good ground. Turn ON the ignition. Does the power brake booster fluid flow alarm sound continuously? If so go to next step. If not go to step  7 .
  6. Connect a jumper wire between the brake fluid level sensor signal circuit and the front windshield wiper switch high signal circuit at the power brake booster fluid pressure alarm switch harness connector. Does the power brake booster fluid flow alarm sound continuously? If so go to step  10 . If not go to step  8 .
  7. Test the brake fluid level sensor signal circuit for an open. Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to step  19 .
  8. Test the front windshield wiper switch high signal circuit and the ground circuit for an open. Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  9. Inspect for poor connections at the power brake booster fluid flow alarm switch. Did you find and correct the condition? If so got o step  21 . If not go to step  12 .
  10. Inspect for poor connections at the power brake booster fluid pressure alarm switch. See Figure . Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  11. Replace the power brake booster fluid pressure alarm switch. See Figure . After repairs are complete, go to step  21 .
  12. Replace the power brake booster fluid flow alarm switch. See Figure . After repairs are complete, go to step  21 .
  13. Test the ignition 3 voltage circuit for an open. Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  14. Test the brake warning indicator supply voltage 2 circuit for an open or short to voltage. Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  15. Remove the 10-amp BRAKE fuse. Disconnect the power brake booster fluid flow alarm harness connector. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the ignition 3 voltage circuit and the brake warning indicator supply voltage 2 circuit at the power brake booster fluid flow alarm harness connector. Does the resistance measure 1.5K ohms (plus or minus 5 percent)? If so go to step  17 . If not go to next step.
  16. Replace the in line resistor between the ignition 3 voltage circuit and the brake warning indicator supply voltage 2 circuit. After repairs are complete, go to step  21 .
  17. Inspect for poor connections at the power brake booster fluid flow alarm. See Figure . Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  18. Replace the power brake booster fluid flow alarm. See Figure . After repairs are complete, go to step  21 .
  19. Inspect for poor connections at the power brake booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module. See Figure . Did you find and correct the condition? If so go to step  21 . If not go to next step.
  20. Replace the power brake booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module. See Figure . After repairs are complete, go to next step.
  21. Turn ON the ignition. Does the power brake booster fluid flow alarm sound continuously? If so, system is okay. If system is not okay, go to step  3 .
