Balance Shaft Drive Chain And Sprockets Clean And Inspect (Unit Repair)

- Inspect balance shaft drive chain guides for cracking or wear.
- Replace balance shaft drive chain guides if wear exceeds 1.12 mm (0.045 in).
- Inspect balance shaft drive chain tensioner shoe for wear.
- Replace balance shaft drive chain tensioner shoe if wear exceeds 1.12 mm (0.045 in)
- Inspect balance shaft drive chain and sprockets for wear.
- Inspect crankshaft sprocket faces for signs of movement.
- Inspect alignment notch in balance shaft for cracking or damage.
- Inspect water pump, crankshaft, and balance shaft sprocket teeth and chain for signs of excessive wear, chipping, or seizure of balance shaft drive chain links.
- Reset ratchet tensioner.
- Rotate tensioner piston 90°
- Push tensioner piston into body
- Engage pin through hole in tensioner body
- Rotate tensioner piston back to 0°
