Rear Disc Brake Hose: Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle. Remove tire and wheel assembly. Clean all dirt and foreign material from the brake hose and the brake pipe fittings.
- Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination. Use a backup wrench on the hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipe fitting from the brake hose, then cap or plug the brake pipe fitting end.
- Do not bend the brake pipe or the bracket. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the brake hose retainer clip from the brake hose mounting bracket. See Fig 1 . Remove the brake hose from the brake hose bracket.
- Remove the brake hose bolt from the brake caliper. See Fig 1 . Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper. Remove and discard the 2 copper brake hose gaskets. See Fig 1 . These gaskets may be stuck to the brake caliper and/or the brake hose end. Install a rubber plug into the brake hose bolt hole of the brake caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
