Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal

- Remove the left side insulator panel.
- Remove the push-in retainers from the I/P insulator to instrument panel.
- Remove the press-on retainers from the I/P insulator to dash mat.
- Unsnap the I/P courtesy lamp from the I/P insulator.
- Remove the I/P insulator from the instrument panel.
- Remove the knee bolster.
- Remove the bolts/screws from the bottom of the knee bolster.
- Pull on the knee bolster in order to release the upper clips.
- Disable the SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG article in RESTRAINTS.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the cruise control release and stoplamp switches. Remove the booster push rod Retain clip and washer from the brake pedal assembly. See Fig 1 .
- Remove the booster push rod from the brake pedal. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts. Remove the brake pedal assembly mounting nuts. Remove the brake pedal assembly with the bracket. Remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle. See Fig 2 . Remove the cruise control release switch and the stoplight switch from the brake pedal assembly.
