Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement: Removal

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the brake caliper and support the brake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose. Refer to the following:

- Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
- Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
- Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
- Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
- Use 2 utility stands in order to support the crossmember.
- Remove the crossmember to underbody bolts.
- Slowly lower the crossmember until there is enough clearance to remove the upper control arm.
- Remove the upper control arm to crossmember bolts and nuts.
- Remove the upper control arm.
