Coil Spring Replacement: AWD: Installation

  1. Install the spring jounce bumper to the spring.
  2. Index and install the spring insulator to the spring (2). Refer to Figure.
  3. Index and install the spring seat with the spring and the jounce bumper to the lower control arm (1).
    CAUTION: Care should be taken to avoid chipping or scratching the coating when handling the suspension coil spring. Damage to the coating can cause premature failure.
  4. Use the utility stand in order to raise the lower control arm.
  5. Install the lower ball joint to the knuckle.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the lower ball joint nut. Tighten the lower ball joint nut to 85 N.m (63 lb ft).
  7. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT .
  8. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm.
  9. Disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle. Refer to TIE ROD REPLACEMENT .
  10. Install the brake caliper. Refer to the following:
  11. Install the rear wheel. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
