Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement AWD: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
  2. Remove the rear wheel.
  3. Remove the brake caliper and support the bake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER .
  4. Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake actuator and the park brake cable bracket.
  5. Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
  6. Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
  7. Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT ALL WHEEL DRIVE .
  8. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
  9. Use 2 utility stands in order to support the crossmember.
  10. Remove the crossmember to underbody bolts.
  11. Slowly lower the crossmember until there is enough clearance to remove the upper control arm.
  12. Remove the upper control arm to crossmember bolts and nuts.
  13. Remove the upper control arm.
