Knuckle Replacement AWD: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
  2. Remove the rear wheel.
  3. Remove the brake caliper and support the bake caliper. Do not disconnect the bake hose. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER .
  4. Remove the brake caliper bracket. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET .
  5. Remove the brake rotor.
  6. Remove the tie rod from the knuckle. Refer to TIE ROD REPLACEMENT ALL WHEEL DRIVE  or TIE ROD REPLACEMENT FRONT WHEEL DRIVE  .
  7. Disconnect stabilizer shaft link at lower control arm. Refer to STABILIZER SHAFT LINK REPLACEMENT .
  8. Disconnect the drive axle from the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to WHEEL DRIVE SHAFT REPLACEMENT - REAR in WHEEL DRIVE SHAFTS .
  9. Remove the park brake shoe. Refer to PARK BRAKE SHOES .
  10. Remove the park brake actuator. Refer to PARK BRAKE ACTUATOR .
  11. Position the park brake cable and the park brake cable bracket aside.
  12. Remove the wheel bearing and the backing plate. Refer to WHEEL BEARING/HUB REPLACEMENT - REAR DISC AND AWD .
  13. Use a utility stand in order to support the lower control arm.
  14. Disconnect the height sensor link from the lower control arm as necessary.
  15. Disconnect the shock absorber from the lower control arm. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT ALL WHEEL DRIVE .
  16. Disconnect the upper control arm from the knuckle. Refer to REAR AXLE UPPER CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT AWD .
  17. Disconnect the lower ball joint from the knuckle using J-41820 Ball Joint/Stud Separator.

  18. Remove the knuckle.
  19. Remove the knuckle. Refer to Knuckle Replacement. Remove the wheel speed sensor connector bracket from the knuckle.
