Differential Assembly: Reassembly

NOTE: Required Tools: Output Shaft Seal Installer (J-44809) and Seal Installer (J-44915).
  1. Using Seal Installer to install left and right axle shaft oil seals. Lubricate "O" ring seal with Synthetic Gear Oil (12378514). Install NEW "O" ring into groove of pinion housing. Using the Seal Installer, install oil seal into pinion housing.
  2. Install pinion housing assembly and shim into differential. Install differential bolts and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install torque tube onto differential and bolt and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
    3. NOTE: DO NOT tighten the bracket nut and bolt at this time. The bracket bolt and nut are to be tightened after the differential assembly is installed into the proper position in the vehicle.
  3. Install the spacers to the tube flanges. See Figure . Install the bracket, bolt, washers and nut to the tube.
  4. Install the O-ring seals onto the clutch pump check valve. See Figure . Install the valve and bolts to the differential and tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the vent hose assembly and clamp to the differential. Install the oil drain plug and gasket to the differential. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
