Removal (Drum)

- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the rear tire and wheel. Relieve the park brake cable tension at the equalizer. Disconnect the rear cable from the front cable.
- For the right rear cable, disconnect the cable from the clip. For the left rear cable, fully remove the equalizer nut from the equalizer stud, which is part of the left rear cable.
- Remove the brake drum. See BRAKE DRUM . Disconnect the park brake cable from the park brake lever. Remove the rear park brake cable from the backing plate using Park Brake Cable Release Tool (J-37043) and remove the cable from the vehicle.
