Park Brake Cable Equalizer: Installation

  1. Ensure that the park brake actuator lever is correctly oriented in the park brake actuator. See Fig 1 . Install the park brake actuator. Install the rear wheel hub and bearing. Adjust the park brake shoe and lining. Install the park brake cable bracket.
  2. Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator lever. See Figure . Install the rear brake rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR  . Install the rear brake caliper bracket with the brake caliper. Install the tire and wheel. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Tighten the park brake cable equalizer nut until both park brake cable ends contact their respective park brake actuator levers. Adjust the park brake cable. See DRUM PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  and DISC PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  . Lower the vehicle.
