Front Brake Caliper: Installation

  1. Ensure that the caliper bolt boots are properly installed. See Figure . Install the caliper to the caliper bracket.
  2. Install the brake caliper bolts. Tighten the bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Remove the plugs in the brake hose end. Remove the plugs in the brake hose end.
  3. Assemble the brake hose bolt and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets to the brake hose. See Figure . Install the brake hose bolt to the brake caliper. Tighten the bolt to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Remove the nuts securing the rotor to the hub.
  4. Install the tire and wheel. Lower the vehicle. Fill the master cylinder to the proper level. Bleed the brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  . Apply approximately 175 ft. lbs. (778 N.m) of force to the brake pedal for 10 seconds. Inspect the brake caliper and hydraulic brake system for brake fluid leaks.
