Brake Pedal Assembly: Installation

- Install the cruise control release switch and the stoplight switch to the brake pedal assembly. Position the brake pedal brace to the brake pedal assembly and install the brace mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the brake pedal assembly with the brace to the vehicle. Install the brake pedal brace upper mounting bolt. Tighten the bolt to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install the brake pedal assembly mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the brake booster mounting nuts. Tighten the nuts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure . Install the booster push rod to the brake pedal. Install washer and retain clip. Enable the SIR system. See appropriate AIR BAG article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the cruise control release and stoplight switches. Adjust the stoplight switch and the cruise control release switch. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
- Install the knee bolster.
- Align the clips with the slots in the instrument panel.
- Push in, in order to secure the knee bolster. Install the bolts/screws to the bottom of the knee bolster.
- Install the left side insulator panel.
- Snap the I/P courtesy lamp into the I/P insulator.
- Position the I/P insulator to the instrument panel.
- Install the push-in retainers to the I/P insulator to instrument panel.
- Install the press-on retainers to the I/P insulator to dash mat.
